BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - Virginia Tech students no longer have to go indoors to charge their phones and computers.

On Wednesday, the school unveiled its first solar charging table. The $8,300 structure has eight USB power stations, all powered by renewable energy from the table's two solar panels.

The table sits in a quad near dining services and several residents halls to encourage student use. It was first thought up by the president of Students for Clean Energy Patrick Gallagher.

The table's dedication was part of Virginia Tech's Earth Week celebration.
