RADFORD (WSLS 10) -- Carilion New River Valley Medical Center is closing its in-house childcare facility next month.
Little Saints Child Care will close July 1 to make way for additional clinical space, spokesman Chris Turnbull released in a statement. The space will be used for by the medical center to care for the growing number of patients seeking Carilion's services, he said.

"Little Saints has been a unique benefit to CNRV employees, and we have been blessed to have such outstanding leadership and staff to take care of employees' children," said Bill Flattery, senior vice president of Carilion Clinic's Western Region. "While this was truly a difficult decision, we believe that this direction will better serve the community's health care needs."
38 children are currently enrolled at Little Saints. Carilion said it has secured spots for the children at the new Radford Early Learning Center, to help the families impacted by the decision.
There are eight full time employees at Little Saints. Carilion said it is helping the effected staff whose positions may be eliminated.
