24-year-old dies in overnight Bedford County crash

BEDFORD (WSLS 10) – One man is dead after a crash in Bedford County.

Virginia State Police say the crash happened at 1 a.m. on Friday, on Bateman Bridge Road.

24-year-old Randy Byrd Brooks, of Forest, was driving south when he lost control, crossed the centerline, left the roadway and hit a tree.

Police say speed was a factor in the crash and Brooks died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
