Family and friends release balloons in memory of Asia Wade

ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - Family, friends and classmates came out to celebrate the birthday of a Roanoke woman who died on Monday after a shooting.

Balloons were released at Lansdowne Park for Asia Wade's 29th birthday. Family members say even though she's no longer here, they are still celebrating in memory of Wade.

Police are still searching for her killer after she was shot at Shenandoah Village on Sunday night.

Ashley Wade, Asia's sister, said Asia was full of life and enjoyed giving back to the community.

"This is my sister right here. She was funny and loved to have a good time and really loved helping people out. She would buy the whole ice cream truck out for the community," said Wade.

Asia was a culinary student at Virginia Western Community College. She was set to graduate this year.

Funeral services for Wade are set for Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Hamlar-Curtis Chapel.
