Four inmates charged in connection with delivering drugs to inmates in Campbell County

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. – The Campbell County Sheriff's Office has charged four more individuals as part of the investigation that led to charges against a former correctional officer at the Campbell County Adult Detention Center.

All four men were inmates at the Campbell County Adult Detention Center when the alleged offenses took place, accordingĀ to the Sheriff's Office.

Carlos Jackson, 31, of Amherst; WilliamĀ Hylton, 31, of Lynchburg; Daniel Mudrie, 29, of Madison Heights; and William Gray, 23, of Gladys, all face one count of delivery of narcotics to a prisoner and illegal possession of a controlled substance.

Jackson and Hylton also face an additional charge of illegal possession of a controlled substance.

Currently, Mudrie, Gray and Jackson are inmates at the Blue River Regional Jail.

Hylton is an inmate at Nottoway Correctional Center.

Former correctional officer Benjamin Joel Rackley, 25, of Brookneal, was previously charged with one count of conspiracy to deliver drugs to prisoners, one count of delivery of drugs to prisoners and two counts distribution of a controlled substance.

The Sheriff's Office says that Rackley was the only correctional officer involved in the offenses.

This investigation remains ongoing, and charges could be filed against more people.
