Hobby Lobby begins hiring for Christiansburg location

Store planned to open in early 2018

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – Up to 50 new jobs are coming to the area, along with another popular shopping destination in the New River Valley.

Christiansburg will soon be home to Virginia's newest Hobby Lobby store

The store will carry more than 70,000 crafting and home decor products including floral, fabric, needle art, custom framing, baskets, home accents, wearable art, wedding supplies, arts and crafts, jewelry making, scrapbooking and paper crafting supplies.

Hobby Lobby announced in February it would be taking over the 55,000-square-foot space of the former K-Mart in Christiansburg. Construction at the site has already begun.

Since then Bob Miller, a spokesperson for Hobby Lobby said they've begun the hiring process. Miller said the store will hire between 35-50 positions.

They are currently advertising for a co-manager position. A larger hiring event is planned for the near future. An official date has not been set.

Hobby Lobby in Christiansburg will pay $15.70 per hour for full-time employees and $10.45 per hour for part-time employees.

The plan is to open in early 2018, Miller said.

“Hobby Lobby currently has 10 locations in Virginia. With the great response we've received from customers at those stores, we believe the Christiansburg is going to be a great location. We look forward to getting the doors open and becoming a part of the community,” said Miller.

Store hours will be Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. All Hobby Lobby stores are closed on Sunday.
