18-year-old woman shot at Danville Sheetz

Police don't know how many shooters there were

DANVILLE, Va. – Danville police say an 18-year-old woman was shot in a Sheetz parking lot overnight.

Police responded to a shots fired call around 12:45 a.m. Thursday at the Sheetz on Riverside Drive.

The woman's family took her to Sovah Health before officers arrived at Sheetz. She was grazed by a bullet on the right side of her body and has been released from the hospital.

There were multiple shell casings found from various calibers of guns, according to police. There may have been shooters both on foot and in vehicles.

Police have not made any arrests. So far, there is no information on a suspect or suspects. Police do not yet know how many shooters there were.

The parking lot was crowded at the time of the shooting, according to police.

It's not known if the woman was targeted, but police say they do not believe this was a random shooting.

Police plan to step up patrols in the area. They will also speak to business owners in the area about their hours of operation.

This Sheetz is close to the Buffalo Wild Wings, where there was a shootout just last week. Police say there is no evidence to suggest this latest shooting is connected to the Buffalo Wild Wings shooting.
