Authorities release name of mother killed, daughter injured in Amherst County shooting

Search continues for the suspect

AMHERST COUNTY, Va. – The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for the person that shot a mother and daughter Tuesday night in their home on Bobwhite Road.  

The mother, Doris Puleio, 92, died from her injuries and the daughter, Trudy Ann Goetz, 74 was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries.

This is still an active investigation and nothing further to release at this time.

One woman is dead and another is in the hospital after a shooting in Amherst County, according to the sheriff's office. 

Deputies responded to a home near Bobwhite Road after they received a call that a woman was shot. 

Authorities found one woman with two gunshot wounds. She was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital. Another woman was found dead with gunshot wounds. 

Deputies believe this is an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public. 

The women's names will not be released until their families have been notified.
