LIVONIA, Mich. – Michigan parents are outraged and looking for answers after a kindergarten student reportedly brought alcohol to class and had other students drink it, according to our sister station WDIV.

The child, a student at Grand River Academy in Livonia, allegedly had a bottle of premixed Jose Cuervo that contained more than 10% alcohol in it.

Parents were reportedly notified that morning of April 14, saying that the kindergartener had a small plastic bottle of alcohol and shared it with four classmates.

As part of a statement to WDIV, the school said the drink was a “pre-mixed, single-serve alcoholic beverage that was marketed as adult lemonade,”

According to WDIV, the school couldn’t give one of the parents a definitive answer when she asked how much her daughter had to drink.

Later in the day, the principal sent out a letter to the community about the incident.

The school said no student became ill or needed medical attention.
