Two injured after shooting along 16th and Fillmore Streets in Lynchburg

The shooting happened around 9:38 p.m. Thursday night

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lynchburg Police are currently at the scene of a shooting that injured two people Thursday night.

At about 9:38 p.m., police responded to 16th and Filmore Streets for reports of a shooting.

Police said community members are reporting there was a large group and that they heard several gunshots.

According to authorities, two victims are currently at Lynchburg General Hospital. Meanwhile, police found multiple shell casing in the area. Authorities also said a car was shot at during an incident.

“When we got there, we located one victim who had several gunshot wounds. That victim was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital. There was an additional victim dropped off by a personal operating vehicle at Lynchburg General Hospital,” said Carrie Dungan with the Lynchburg Police Department.

10 News was on the scene and saw a heavy police presence investigating the scene at about 11 p.m.

Lynchburg Police told 10 News that was all the information they could provide at this time, but said they do believe this is an isolated incident.
