Authorities said victim was 32 years old

A man is dead after a fight turned into a fatal shooting in South Boston on Thursday night, according to police.

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. – A man is dead after a fight turned into a fatal shooting in South Boston on Thursday night, according to police.

Authorities said the shooting happened at the Westside Village Apartments on Sinai Road just before 11:30 p.m.

When officers arrived, they said they found 32-year-old Lamar Ballou of South Boston fatally shot in the parking lot near Building 9 of the apartment complex with multiple gunshot wounds.

After talking to neighbors in the area, investigators said they believe that Ballou was involved in a physical fight with at least two other people just before he was shot.

Authorities said they found several empty pistol cartridges at the scene and they are working on multiple leads on this case.
