Four people forced out of home by fire in Danville on Myrtle Avenue

DANVILLE, Va. – A fire caused moderate damage in the kitchen, with smoke damage throughout the rest of the home on Myrtle Avenue in Danville Easter Sunday.

The Danville Fire Department got the call around 7 p.m., a press release said.

Crews report finding smoke coming from the front door and once inside saw fire in the kitchen.

Four residents were displaced and the American Red Cross is assisting the residents with temporary living arrangements, authorities report.

The Danville Fire Department would like to remind you to please never leave your cooking stove in use unattended, as kitchen fires are the leading cause of fires in homes.
