Lynchburg City Schools to host cosmetology event

Students had the chance to practice their skills on their newly-hired supervisor

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Lynchburg City Schools offer a variety of career and technical education classes.

But on Friday, students from the Heritage High School cosmetology class were able to hone their skills by cutting the hair of their newly-hired supervisor.

Instructional Supervisor Robbie Dooley volunteered for a haircut from the students. He was one of several volunteers to get their hair cut by stylists in training.

Lynchburg City Schools say CTE classes are a great way for students to get hands-on experience and training before leaving school.

“I believe it gives me a head start, so when I do continue further in it, I know exactly what to do,” said senior Day’Niyah Patrick. “I hope to learn that anything is possible, and do anything you put your mind to. It may be tough, but you’ll get through it.”

Lynchburg City Schools also offer CTE classes in subjects including architecture, finance, and hospitality.
