63-year-old man dead after crash in Halifax County, VSP says

Authorities say the crash happened Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Route 360 and Terry’s Bridge Rd

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. – A 63-year-old man is dead following a crash in Halifax County Tuesday afternoon, according to Virginia State Police.

Authorities say 54-year-old Deidra Galbraith, of Halifax, was driving south on Terry’s Bridge Road in a Pontiac Grand Am when she crossed over Route 360, traveling into the path of a Ford F7000 dump truck that was going eastbound.

The Ford was unable to avoid hitting the Pontiac. When the Ford crashed into the Pontiac, it spun into a median and the Ford continued off the right side of Route 360 and overturned, police say.

VSP has identified the driver of the Ford as Albert J. Duffey, 73, of Clover, and said at the time of the crash, there was a passenger in the Pontiac, who has been identified as Donald W. Browning, 63, of Halifax.

Officials say Browning did not survive the crash.

Duffey and Galbraith were both hospitalized with minor injuries.

At this time, charges are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
