Roanoke-Fire EMS has released more details about a fire in Southeast Roanoke Tuesday night (April 5).

Shortly after 7 p.m., crews received a call about a fire in the 1000 block of Jamison Ave and were told that people were stuck inside.

Authorities arrived at the scene to find smoke coming from the two-story home and a person on the roof.

Crews helped the person down and then checked the home to ensure that everyone made it out of the home safely.

According to Roanoke Fire-EMS, the fire was located and extinguished on the second floor. Authorities say the fire was contained due to the door being shut.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office. Damages to the structure and its contents are estimated to be $25,000.

According to Roanoke Fire-EMS, the fire has been brought under control.

The fire is happening in the 1000 block of Jamison Ave SE, crews said.

Roanoke Fire-EMS asked citizens to avoid the area and take alternate routes.
