Trial date set for man accused of murder in Elliston woman’s death

He is expected in court in August, court records show

ELLISTON, Va. – A trial date has been set for a man who is accused of murder in an Elliston woman’s death.

James Stallard is expected in the Montgomery County Circuit Court for a jury trial on August 16 at 9 a.m., according to court records.

Stallard is facing now a first-degree murder charge in connection with the incident that left 44-year-old Crystal Hannah dead. He was originally charged with second-degree murder, as we previously reported.

In 2022, Hannah was reported missing, and later in the investigation, authorities found her remains in the 2600 block of Northfolk Road in Elliston.
