Roanoke City Council approves next step for proposed Fishburn Park coffeehouse

ROANOKE, Va. – Roanoke city leaders voted unanimously to approve the next step to building a coffee shop in Fishburn Park on Tuesday.

This will extend the closing date of a potential deal to the end of September.

During public comment, people spoke both for and against the project.

Before voting, council members spoke in support of the coffee shop and called this step a compromise.

The space for the development will be smaller, with half an acre reserved as a green space.

The buyers are also committing to investing $150,000 dollars to rebuilding and restoring the property.
