Back to school safety and security: Radford City Public Schools

10 News investigates the measures school districts are taking to protect staff and students

RADFORD, Va. – Radford City Public Schools serves approximately 2,500 students and is home to two elementary schools, an intermediate school and Radford High School.

The division invested in many security upgrades this year, including:

  • An additional school resource officer
  • Card swipes for exterior doors
  • A panic alarm system
  • More security cameras
  • Additional barriers to decrease access to exterior doors
  • Adding vestibules to two of its schools
