House fire in Southeast Roanoke causes $5,500 in damages

ROANOKE, Va. – UPDATE:

Roanoke Fire-EMS said they responded to a house fire in the 1300 block of Dale Avenue SE shortly before 1 p.m.

While crews were in the neighborhood responding to an unrelated call, they saw smoke coming from a house.

Officials said there was smoke and flames on the second floor of the house, which were extinguished.

No injuries were reported.

Estimated damages is $5,500.

According to investigators, the fire was accidental in nature and was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.

Crews are responding to a house fire in Southeast Roanoke.

Fire trucks were seen driving alongside the Virginia Veterans Day Parade route in Downtown Roanoke on Saturday around noon. Crews said the fire is happening in the 1300 block of Dale Avenue.
