LewisGale officials break ground on Christiansburg ER

Construction set to be complete in late 2024

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – On Tuesday morning, officials with LewisGale Hospital Montgomery hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of LewisGale Hospital Montgomery Christiansburg ER.

It’s the hospital’s newest freestanding emergency room and will be located at 1205 West Main Street, with construction set to be complete in late 2024.

Officials said the 14 million dollar project was purposefully placed close to Interstate 81 to reach as many patients as possible.

They said having an emergency room here allows for quicker treatment options for people in the local area during emergencies.

The emergency department medical director said during emergencies, time can mean everything

“We do know with multiple studies of heart attacks and strokes, the sooner you can provide emergency intervention the better it is for the patient and the better their outcome is,” said Christopher Smith.

The emergency room is planned to open in late 2024.
