DANVILLE, Va. – Some changes will be coming to Goodyear’s facility in Danville as part of its global transformation plan.
The manufacturing company has announced plans to shift the focus of its Danville plant toward mixing and the Aviation sector.

Due to this, much of the tire production from this plant will be moved to other facilities.

As part of its global transformation plan, Goodyear plans to refocus the Danville, Virginia facility on mixing and the Aviation sector and move the majority of that plant’s commercial tire production to other facilities in its footprint. The company’s goal is to strengthen the Danville plant’s competitiveness.

City Manager Ken Larking commented on the development as well, saying: “Corrie Bobe and I spoke with Dave Cumbo, the plant manager, on Monday, who informed us of their plans. As of today, I have not received any letter from Goodyear, so we do not have any specific information about the impact. During our call with Mr. Cumbo, we offered to be available to assist with resources typically available to help companies and their team members to be successful in our community.”
