HALIFAX CO., Va. – Virginia State Police is investigating a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a 71-year-old woman Wednesday.
According to officials, the crash occurred at 2:02 p.m. at the intersection of Route 501 and Stage Coach Road. A 2003 Dodge Ram was heading southbound on 501 when it was unable to avoid a 2016 Chrysler 300, which was traveling eastbound on Stage Coach Road.

VSP said there are stop signs located at the intersection on Old Stage Coach Road, but not on Route 501.
The driver of the Chrysler, 71-year-old Brenda Pannell of Brookneal died at the scene. The driver of the Ram, 55-year-old Michael Ferrell of Vernon Hill suffered minor injuries.
