If you’re planning a vacation soon, be sure to stay aware of travel scams that impact travelers every day.

AARP has warned of “bogus deals, fake booking sites, or schemes designed to steal money or personal information.” They could create fake vacation rental listings, get you to pay up front through suspicious means like gift cards and hard-to-trace methods.

If you see an offer that is suspiciously discounted, be cautious. Be sure to use a credit card when possible for added fraud protection, and always verify the company you’re using to book. Search their name along with keywords like “scam,” “complaint,” and “review” to see what others have to say.

Be sure to make your next trip safe and scam-free.
