LYNCHBURG –
One person is dead and another person is in serious condition after reports of a shooting and burglary in Lynchburg.
On Monday, the Lynchburg Police Department responded to a home at 807 Dearing Street.

Upon officer’s arrival, they found one man lying in the yard and a second man lying in the doorway to the residence. Both men were suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The police department was notified on Monday, that one man, identified as 18-year-old Dedric Shyheim Megginson, had died of his injuries.
The second man, identified as 18-year-old Darrell Jermaine Saunders Jr., is listed in serious but stable condition and is being treated at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Police say the investigation indicates this incident is isolated and is not a random act.
There is no indication of any on-going danger to the community related to this incident.
