The addition took about a year and a half to build and cost $1 million.

It gives crew members more room and makes offering classes to the public easier.

Crew members have been using the addition for a couple of months and crew chief Robbie Woodall says it is already paying off.

"Last night, we had clinical resources going on, clinical labs. All the equipment was set up, the students came in, the second class was able to do instructional (work). So we were able to double the amount of people that got taught in one night," Woodall explained.

The Danville Life Saving Crew is now trying to raise $740,000 to pay off the remaining cost of the addition.
