Playoffs remain goal for Radford despite jump to Class 2A

Bobcats tough Three Rivers District schedule should prepare them

RADFORD, Va. –   The WSLS-10 Sports High School camp tour checks in at Radford High School. Coming off a 5-6 season that included another playoff trip, Radford's goal remains returning to the playoffs  Coach Matthew Saunders says his Bobcats are athletic and a little more seasoned this year, with a line that is larger than usual. Radford will remain in the tough Three Rivers District but the Bobcats will move up a class to 2A  But the playoffs remain the goal, regardless of the classification.

"Being Radford we always want to be in the playoffs and there's a lot of tradition here so these guys know what tradition is about. It was rough(last season) but we've been in the playoffs, I think, eight years in a row since I've been here. So they understand what has to go on," Matthews said.

"It's  a lot of motivation to go further since we're going up against better competition, to do better than we did last year, Bobcats wide receiver Camryn Edwards said.

"I think we definitely have more experience especially on the line.  We have some older guys and we're just working as hard as we can to do the best we can," Radford lineman Nathan Cox said.

The Bobcats open on Aug. 25 when they host George Wythe.
