Magna Vista wins first State Title in School History

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) - Jacqez Hairston ran for 197 yards and two touchdowns Saturday and Magna Vista beat Lafayette 25-19 in the VHSL Group 3A state championship game.
Hairston scored on runs of 83 and 48 yards as the Warriors (14-1) won their first state title. The second TD run came after the Rams closed to within 19-13.

John Douglass ran for touchdowns of 7 and 10 yards and Cheyton Pine hit Tyreke Graham with a 46-yard scoring pass for Lafayette (14-1). Douglass' second TD came with 4:32 to play, but Magna Vista held on when Traevon Brunson forced Pine to fumble at his own 45 with 1:48 to play.
Warriors quarterback Shaolin McGuire threw a 25-yard TD pass to T'Mahdae Penn, and McGuire also scored on a 4-yard run.
