Virginia Tech beats UNC to advance to first-ever ACC Tournament title game

Hokies won 72-59 in the semifinal game

BROOKLYN, New York – Hokie history was made on Friday night as Virginia Tech beat UNC, 72-59 in the semifinals of the ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament.

The 7-seed Hokies led 32-26 at the half and never gave the 3-seed Tarheels a chance to come back.

Virginia Tech, with its first win ever over UNC in the ACC Tournament, has now won 12 of its last 14 games.

Leading the way for Tech was Keve Aluma with 18 points.

Prior to Friday night’s win, the Hokies were 0-3 in ACC semifinal games.

The Hokies now have a record of 4-2 in the ACC Tournament since it moved to Brooklyn.

The Hokies will now face Duke on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the team’s first-ever ACC title game.
