1st and 10 Camp Tour: Magna Vista Warriors

Warriors coming off 7-4 season in 2022

Coach Joe Favero enters his 16th season at the home of the Warriors, and he never has a shortage of talented, skilled players.

The Warriors are coming off a 5 and 1 run through the Piedmont District with the lone loss to rival Bassett. They tout a junior and senior-laden team including running back JJ Spriggs.

Spriggs returns from a 15-hundred-yard-plus season.

Also returning from last season’s 7-4, Class 3D playoff team is quarterback Simeon Moore, and plenty more speed, size, and talent on defense as well.

“Something we talked about in the offseason is reacting well when things are tough and fighting through. When things are good, things are easy but when things are tough they’re tough. We’ve got to be better when we see a little adversity,” head coach Joe Favero said.

“It’s all about mentality, discipline, staying focused. Even if we go on a winning streak we have keep that mindset that we’re the underdog and we always have to fight back,” Warriors running back and linebacker Amari Thomas said.

“We’re dynamic, quick, fast, we’re strong. We’ve been lifting all summer so we’re ready for this competition, “Tight End and outside Linebacker Tyrese Perkins said.

Magna Vista opens the season with Staunton River on August 25, the team that ousted them in the first round of the Region 3D playoffs.
