For us in southwest Virginia, the one name that we’re familiar with is Robert Anderson. The longtime sports journalist has been a fixture for high school sports. A respected voice in Virginia sports journalism, Anderson chronicled, celebrated, and highlighted the achievements of generations of VHSL student-athletes throughout his award-winning career from 1978 until his retirement in 2022. His career started at the Bristol Herald Courier in 1978 and Anderson stayed there until 2001 when he came to the Star City. He continued award-winning work until his official retirement just a few years ago. But the local sports savant can still be seen a time or two at the scorers table at local events.
The 36th Annual Hall of Fame enshrinement dinner is 3:30 pm, Sunday, April 27, at the Omni Charlottesville Hotel in Charlottesville.
