Magna Vista reloads for another successful season in 2017

Warriors look to build off 9-3 record last season

RIDGEWAY, Va. – Magna Vista followed up back-to-back 3A state titles in 2014 and 2015 with a 9-3 season last year. Coach Favero's troops were stopped in round two of the playoffs by eventual state finalist Staunton River.

The Warriors have reloaded this offseason for another postseason run. They return the bulk of their skill position playmakers, and the veteran coach is upbeat about the 2017 version of the Warriors.

"We got a lot of kids back on both sides of the ball most of our leaders in our playmakers, so those guys of had a good offseason. They've gotten the younger guys to buy in. And hopefully we've improved this offseason. You know, I think you're trying play a competitive schedule during the regular season so you can really measure yourself against the best competition, because when you get in the playoffs that's what you're going to face," Warriors head coach Joe Favero said.

"This season we're looking to go 1-0 every week, we had a hump last year where we lost to Stanton River, but we're going to bounce back this year and we're going to get right every week we're going to go 1-0, we're going to take it one we get a time," added wide receiver Chris Ross.

"Of course we always stay hungry. We're just trying to influence our players to stay positive so we can get back to that point that we were once before," lineman Roderick Ross said.

The Warriors open with 2A power Dan River Aug. 25.
