(CNN) - A lawyer for the Ukraine whistleblower, whose complaint document triggered the House impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump, has sent a letter to the White House warning the President to "cease and desist" attacking his client. The President has also accused the whistleblower of partisanship though Trump said he had no personal knowledge of the person's identity. The whistleblower's complaint alleges Trump abused his official powers "to solicit interference" from Ukraine in the 2020 election and that the White House took steps to cover it up. A rough transcript released by the White House shows Trump repeatedly pushed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, Trump's potential 2020 political rival, and his son Hunter Biden. Many of the central claims from the whistleblower's complaint have been corroborated by testimony from Trump administration officials and the partial transcript of the July 25 call between Trump and Zelensky, which was released by the White House.

"Additionally, it is our firm position that we must treat Congress as a whole in a fair and impartial manner. Committee Chairman Richard Burr said last week that he was trying to get access to the whistleblower but "they haven't agreed to" make the person available. Asked why, the North Carolina Republican said, "No idea" but "they're not interested," appearing to refer to the individual's legal counsel. On the House side, top Republicans on the committees involved in the impeachment inquiry have demanded that Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff of California bring the whistleblower in for public testimony.

Attorney Mark Zaid confirmed to CNN that he and other lawyers on his team are now representing the second person. The initial whistleblower's complaint alleged the President abused his official powers "to solicit interference" from Ukraine in the upcoming 2020 election, and that the White House took steps to cover it up. The New York Times reported Friday that a second intelligence official with concerns and more direct knowledge regarding Trump's dealings with Ukraine was considering filing a whistleblower complaint. Zaid told CNN he didn't know if the second whistleblower he is representing is the same person referenced in the Times report.
