LEADING OFF: Cole a go, Greinke returns, Brewers make pitch
Yankees ace Gerrit Cole (14-7, 2.78 ERA), pushed back because of left hamstring tightness, is set to start on six days’ rest at Baltimore. Cole will have a new shortstop behind him, too, after New York moved error-prone Gleyber Torres to second base Monday. Torres will spend the rest of the season at second, manager Aaron Boone said.

Gleyber Torres was treated by the Yankees the same way he dealt with too many grounders: He was given the boot from shortstop. DJ LeMahieu switched from second to third, and Tyler Wade played shortstop. Manager Aaron Boone said Gio Urshela will move from third and likely will become the regular shortstop starting Tuesday night at Baltimore.

(AP Photo/Julio Cortez)BALTIMORE – Cole Hamels finally got on the mound in an Atlanta uniform, allowing three runs to the Baltimore Orioles before reaching his predetermined pitch count in the fourth inning, and the Braves struggled offensively in a 5-1 loss Wednesday night. The 36-year-old Hamels signed a one-year contract with Atlanta in December and was expected to be a major contributor in the rotation. Adding to Hamels' frustration was that he had made at least 20 starts in each of his previous 14 seasons. Snitker said Fried would have started the series finale against the Orioles if Hamels wasn't already penciled in.
