LOS ANGELES (CNN) - Bill Macy, the long-suffering foil for Bea Arthur's feminist "Maude" on the 1970s sitcom, has died at the age of 97, The Associated Press reported Friday. He died Thursday night in Los Angeles, his friend Matt Beckoff told the AP. His run on "Maude" as Walter Findlay from 1972-1978 was his highest-profile role during a long stage, film and TV career, the AP said.
