Will the U.S. men blow their chance for a World Cup spot, like they did for the 2018 event?
Nearly five years after the United States men’s national soccer team famously blew a spot in the 2018 World Cup by losing to a vastly inferior Trinidad and Tobago squad in October of 2017 in the final game of qualifying, the moment of redemption has finally arrived for the Americans.

Pulisic scores in extra time, US beats Mexico 3-2
Christian Pulisic converted a penalty kick in the 114th minute, backup goalkeeper Ethan Horvath stopped Andrés Guardado’s penalty kick in the 124th minute and the United States overcame an early defensive blunder to beat Mexico 3-2 in a final of the first CONCACAF Nations League that turned on three video reviews.

And then there were 8: CONCACAF hexagonal becomes octagonal
NEW YORK CONCACAF is changing its World Cup qualifying hexagonal to an octagonal in response to the coronavirus pandemic and delaying the start until next June. CONCACAFs other 30 nations will compete for three additional spots in the final round. By staying with a large total of teams in the final round, CONCACAF ensured two high-profile, lucrative qualifiers between the U.S. and Mexico. Teams not in the hexagonal would have competed for the right to represent CONCACAF in an intercontinental playoff. The top three teams in the octagonal qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and the fourth-place nation advances to an intercontinental playoff in June 2022.

Guatemalan boys denied visas for US game
The Guatemala under-15 boys soccer team is among the top 14 teams in the CONCACAF championship. (CNN) - At least nine boys with the Guatemalan under-15 soccer team were denied travel visas to the United States, the country's soccer federation said. The team is set to compete in the CONCACAF Boys U-15 championship at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida beginning on August 4. The Guatemalan soccer officials didn't elaborate on why the visas were denied. The Guatemalan team is set to face the US, Haiti and Suriname teams in the first phase of the tournament.
