Roanoke held its Freedom Festival and fireworks show Thursday night at River’s Edge.

The lower overlook at Mill Mountain’s Rockledge will be closed for painting from today, Tuesday, July 1, through Thursday, July 3.

Residents looking for ways to celebrate Independence Day can enjoy the annual Freedom Festival and Fireworks and the Four on the Fourth race at the Vinton War Memorial.

The festival features fireworks, food, inflatables and a live band.

Roanoke City is offering a range of free family activities this summer, including the Freedom Festival and daily pop-up recreation at Washington Park.

Preparations are already underway for the Star City’s Fourth of July celebration.
