2 warnings and an advisory in effect for 7 counties in the area

KENDRICK BOURNE

Patriots bury Browns, Belichick ties Halas with 324th win

Rookie backup Bailey Zappe threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns in his third NFL game, Bill Belichick tied George Halas for second on the all-time list with his 324th victory, and the New England Patriots buried the Cleveland Browns 38-15.

Patriots' Newton knows he has much to prove this season

Cam Newton would be the first to tell you that his inaugural season with the New England Patriots didnโ€™t go as envisioned.

Patriots, Bucs among those making biggest waves so far

(AP Photo/Adam Hunger, File)Bill Belichick never was one to spend wildly in free agency. Whether by trade, free agency or re-signings, the group brings a good mix of offense, defense and special teams. In addition to keeping Von Miller, Justin Simmons and Shelby Harris, Paton filled his biggest defensive pothole by signing free agent cornerbacks Ronald Darby and Kyle Fuller. FUTURE CONSIDERATIONSThe Lions didnโ€™t do much in free agency but nobody in Detroit should be bothered. The Lions are focused on rebuilding through the draft after sending QB Matthew Stafford to the Rams and then letting star wide receiver Kenny Golladay walk in free agency.

Spend, spend, spend on 2nd day of "legal tampering" in NFL

(AP Photo/Gary McCullough, File)For people wondering where is all the free-agent quarterback movement as the NFL's โ€œlegal tamperingโ€ period enters its second day, well, calm down. He started seven and played in nine games last season for Miami, throwing for 2,091 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He will be replaced as Tua Tagovailoa's backup by Brissett, who will get a one-year, $5 million deal in Miami. The Bengals also reached agreement with Pittsburgh safety Mike Hilton on a four-year, $24 million contract, also according to a person with knowledge of the deal. Kelly signed a three-year, $21 million deal exactly a year ago and started all 16 games at right tackle.

Aaron Rodgers leads Packers past undermanned 49ers, 34-17

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, bottom left, and quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) celebrate after connecting on a touchdown pass during the second half of an NFL football game against the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, Calif., Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020. (AP Photo/Tony Avelar)SANTA CLARA, Calif. โ€“ Aaron Rodgers took advantage of the undermanned San Francisco 49ers rather than sympathizing with the team that dominated his Green Bay Packers twice last season. Rodgers threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns and the Packers overwhelmed the depleted 49ers 34-17 on Thursday night. DEPLETED ROSTERThe run of injuries and coronavirus rules left the 49ers with a shell of a roster, especially on offense. 49ers: CB Kโ€™Waun Williams (ankle) and S Jaquiski Tartt (toe) left the game and didnโ€™t return.

AP source: NFL probe 49ers for possible COVID violations

SANTA CLARA, Calif. โ€“ The NFL and the union are investigating the San Francisco 49ers and receiver Kendrick Bourne for possible violations of the leagueโ€™s coronavirus protocols. A person familiar with the investigation says the probe is looking into whether Bourne was wearing a face covering as required by the COVID-19 rules. Bourne was placed on the COVID-19 list on Wednesday after testing positive for the coronavirus. The Packers also have their own coronavirus issues after running back AJ Dillon tested positive and was placed on the COVID-19 list Monday. Running back Jamaal Williams and linebacker Kamal Martin were also placed on the list because of high-risk close contacts.

49ers close facility after Bourneโ€™s positive COVID-19 test

The team said the positive test came back Wednesday morning and Bourne immediately went into self-quarantine after getting the diagnosis. The positive test came just days after the 49ers played at Seattle. All we can do right now is test and be aware of the connections.โ€This is the first positive coronavirus test for the 49ers since the start of the regular season. The Packers are dealing with their own issues with the coronavirus after running back AJ Dillon tested positive on Monday. Running back Jamaal Williams and linebacker Kamal Martin were placed on the COVID-19 list on Tuesday as โ€œhigh-riskโ€ contacts to Dillon.

49ers blast Jets 31-13, but lose Garoppolo, Bosa, Mostert

Still, short-handed San Francisco had enough to beat the inept New York Jets. Defensive end Nick Bosa and defensive tackle Solomon Thomas were both carted off the field two plays apart with left knee injuries in the first quarter. Two plays later, Thomas was carted off โ€” also with a left knee injury โ€” after an 8-yard reception by Chris Hogan. San Francisco ended the 14-play possession with an 18-yard catch by Jordan Reed for the first of his two TD grabs. ... San Francisco wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, a first-round draft pick, had two catches for 21 yards in his NFL debut.
