A U.S. tourist was shot in the leg by unidentified assailants at a resort town on Mexicoโs Caribbean coast, prosecutors in the coastal state of Quintana Roo said Tuesday. The U.S. State Department issued a travel alert earlier this month warning travelers to โexercise increased caution,โ especially after dark, at Mexico's Caribbean beach resorts like Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum, which have been plagued by drug gang violence in the past.

Copies of the new textbooks posted on social media show them using words like โdijistes,โ long considered an incorrect or uneducated way of saying โdijiste,โ meaning โyou said.โ โIt is important to make students conscious of the fact that there are different ways of speaking, in order to avoid judgements based on ways of speaking,โ according to an insert instruction to teachers in what appears to be an early grade-school textbook.
