Bank of America said Tuesday its profits fell in the second quarter, as higher interest rates ate into expenses, including its large consumer banking franchise.

Bank of America says its fourth-quarter profits rose slightly from a year ago, as higher credit costs and potentially bad loans more than offset a sharp rise in interest revenue.

Bank of America says its profits rose 28% last quarter from a year earlier, but the bank faced the same wage inflation as its Wall Street counterparts.

Four of the largest U.S. banks said their profits grew by double-digits last quarter, as a healthier U.S. economy has allowed banks to have fewer bad loans and charge-offs.

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. – A woman was found dead in Frederick County, Maryland, and her ex-husband has been charged, according to NBC Washington. The NBC affiliate reports that body of 31-year-old Kaitlin Nichole Roberts of Winchester, Virginia, was found early Saturday in an industrial areaA lifelong friend of Roberts told News 4 that she had been trying to get away from her ex-husband, Lemuel Roberts. Lemuel Roberts, 31, was arrested Friday on an unrelated possession with intent to distribute cocaine and on Monday, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office announced a first-degree murder charge was filed against him, according to The Frederick News-Post. NBC 4 reports that officials did not release information on how Roberts was killed.

FREDERICK COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police have identified a suspect in a deadly hit-and-run crash and are asking the public’s help to locate him. Christofer Valeriano-Lanza, 20, of Winchester, Virginia, is wanted on one felony count of duty to report an accident involving injury or death. The deadly crash happened on Jan. 11 at 1:41 a.m. on Route 7 (Berryville Pike) a tenth of a mile west of Route 991 (Regency Lakes). Valeriano-Lanza ran away from the crash scene before law enforcement arrived, according to state police. State police is encouraging anyone with information concerning Valeriano-Lanza’s whereabouts and/or details about the crash to please contact Virginia State Police Trooper J. Myers at 540-662-3313.

ROANOKE, Va. - A group of motorcycle riders traveling across the country to raise awareness about homelessness made a stop in Roanoke Friday. The group from Winchester, Virginia, stopped at the Roanoke Rescue Mission. This was the first stop on the group's journey. The group left Winchester Friday morning and hopes to get to Los Angeles by Oct. 15. "Our whole goal is to stop at rescue missions along the way to discuss issues of homelessness, as well as barriers individuals experiencing homelessness face, as well as to highlight some of the incredible work being done by rescue missions across the country," Winchester Rescue Mission Executive Director Brandan Thomas said.
