ROANOKE, Va. – Here is a look at what we’re tracking over the next couple of days. Clear skies build in to close out the week as winds slowly taper off.
The overall setup for the day is something we are becoming familiar with as we transition to the Winter months. Cold air is continuing to funnel in from the north and west.
Along with the cold air is the wind. Gusts will reach as high as 25 mph across the Roanoke Valley with spots across the NRV and Highlands seeing winds close to 30-40 mph at times.
Because of the wind, some things in your yard may end up in your neighbor’s yard. Christmas decorations and trash cans will be vulnerable!
By the afternoon, the wind chill improves. It will be feeling like the 20s and 30s for most around 1 p.m. This theme continues as we head into the evening.
Two areas of high pressure will stay close by as we head into the weekend. This will provide mostly clear skies and a brief warm-up through Saturday. Rain chances return once we get to Sunday.
The jet stream remains south for the time being. This will keep the cycle strong! Cold air continues to move in for a few days, and then the supply looks to shut off once we head into next week.
