ROANOKE, Va. (WSLS 10) - Downtown living is helping at least one Roanoke businesses.

Leonore Restaurant and Bar has seen an increase in customers since the Ponce de Leon opened across the street on Campbell Avenue.

Owner Miguel Liendo says business has grown since he opened two and a half years ago, so much so he's now expanding. Liendo is taking up the vacant store next door to his current space.

He says it will become the new main entrance while the current space can be used for private parties or large groups and the bar. It will allow him to add more tables for customers, he said.

"I would see so many sad people turning around because they don't have a table to sit at and eat. Next door was available and I just couldn't refuse to get that."

The newly expanded Leonore Restaurant is expected to be open by February. It will include about 20 additional tables and booths.

Leonore offers pizza, subs, pasta and more.
