AMHERST CO. (WSLS 10) - A local teenager pleaded guilty Thursday in Amherst County Circuit Court on charges relating to a fatal accident in July. William Wayne Clements, 19, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, grand larceny and felony attempt to elude police.

was killed on July 13, 2014. Clements had led police on a high speed chase on a stolen motorcycle that crashed resulting in

Trent

's death.

According to the Amherst County Sheriff's Office, on July 10 the motorcycle was reported stolen from

Neighbors Drive

area of

Amherst

. On the 13, the motorcycle on which Clements was operating and

Trent

was a passenger entered RADAR at a high rate of speed. 

Deputies said the pair had been to a swimming hole in

Nelson County

and were returning. The motorcycle failed to stop for police, and ended up crashing in the Faulconerville area of the county on

South Amherst Highway

. 

Authorities say Trent was treated and transported to the hospital where he died. 

Clements was sentenced to ten years in prison with five suspended for the involuntary manslaughter. In the Grand Larceny case, he was given 20 years in prison all of which was suspended on the condition that he remain of good behavior upon his release from the active five year sentence. 

And on the felony elude case he was given five years in prison. In total, Clements received a total of 35 years. Police say Clements will be on active probation upon his release. He was also ordered to pay restitution to the owner of the motorcycle and to the Trent family.
