MONETA, Va. (WSLS 10) - A friend to many has passed away. We're told J.D. Scott died at his home Sunday night in Moneta.
As many of you know, J.D. was battling cancer. He was out working in his field at Scott's Strawberries for 12 to 14 hours a day getting ready for the annual festival that was held this Memorial Day weekend.

J.D. said it was the best festival they ever had.
Scott was a life-long farmer who started his strawberry business in 1991. He was 69-years-old.
