ROANOKE (WSLS 10) - A new food delivery service is helping Roanokers eat better and for less without the work.
Food Prep Services Roanoke officially opened last week.

Co-owner Jim Thomas said the service gives customers an affordable way to eat healthy meals. Customers can order meals, including lunch and dinner and they'll be packaged for easy reheating and delivered to their home or office.
"Because of how busy we are as a society, nobody has time to cook their food and we can't afford the expensive stuff when it's prepared for us. So I said what if we could help? Let's make a restaurant and we make healthy meals convenient and affordable," he said.
Customers choose from a select menu of proteins, vegetables and carbs and decide how many meals they want for the week. Meal plans offer seven, 12 or 18 meals per week. A lunch special offers five meals a week for $19.95.
"America really needs a healthy option that's convenient and fixes their budget because right now we have to choose fast food because it's the only thing available. Burgers are $1 to $2 but salads and chicken breasts are nine to 10 bucks at most restaurants."
Thomas said Food Prep Services Roanoke has a restaurant license and operates out of the kitchen at The Park in Roanoke. Meals are delivery only at no additional cost.
He says it's healthy, convenient, affordable and much easier than taking a trip to the grocery store when you're already short on time.
"You have to take an hour to go get it and come back, an hour to cook it, an hour to clean up. So if you're paying us $20 for a week's worth of lunch and you pay 10 for that meat, aren't you worth more than three dollars an hour? Let us cook you lunch."
