ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) -- Cave Spring Elementary students focus on community service this holiday season.
More than 400 pre-K through fifth grade students collected canned food items, including pet food and toys, in their Elves Stock the Shelves project. The items will be donated to the TRUST homeless shelter, Angels of Assisi and the SPCA.

Students collected hundreds of items in just two weeks.
"Yeah. We got a lot of vegetables," said fifth grader Lauren Cone.
"And soup and mac and cheese and peanut butter," added Sifti Panesar.
"We got a lot of everything," Cone laughed. "It's nice to help people because they might not have some of the things that we have and when we help them it makes them feel good and makes us feel good."
Most of the items will be delivered Friday.
