ATF offering reward in Appomattox gun store burglary
APPOMATTOX COUNTY (WSLS 10) -- The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) along with the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) are offering a reward for information regarding the theft of guns from TNT Outfitters in Appomattox County.
The ATF is offering a $2,500 reward and the NSSF will match that for a total reward of up to $5,000. The reward is part of a larger national cooperative initiative between the NSSF and ATF in which the NSSF matches ATF's reward in cases involving the theft of firearms from federally licensed firearm retailers.
Investigators say on January 10, approximately 56 guns were reported stolen from TNT Outfitters.Authorities arrested Kwamane J. McCoy, 23, Christopher D. McCoy, 24, and Kelsey B. Coffey, 20; but it's believed there are more suspects. Investigators were also able to recover about a dozen of the stolen guns.
Authorities are asking for the public's help finding additional suspects and recovering more firearms.
