Christiansburg man, 26, killed in Route 460 motorcycle crash

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. – State police say a 26-year-old Christiansburg man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday night. 

It happened around 11:15 p.m. on Route 460, about a mile north of Roanoke Road in Montgomery County. 

According to state police, a 2006 Yamaha YZF R1 was traveling west on Route 460 at a high rate of speed when the motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway, hitting a guardrail. The driver was thrown off of the motorcycle. 

The driver, Jackson Everett Demere, died at the scene. State police say he was wearing a helmet. 

The crash remains under investigation.
