Salem dessert shop opens location in Roanoke

Roanoke owners move in to Tanglewood Mall, their second location

ROANOKE, Va. – A Salem business featuring unique desserts has opened up a new location.

Champloo opened a shop in Roanoke's Tanglewood Mall last week. The shop sells a style of rolled ice cream that comes from Thailand.

The menu is similar the one at the shop in Salem. It also has Chinese-inspired bubble waffle ice cream.

"It's definitely unique in the fact that it's aesthetically pleasing as opposed to just serving regular desserts, like if you were to just get scooped ice cream," manager Hong Bui said

Managers expect it to be a busy location. They said they like Tanglewood Mall, despite some of the mall’s struggles.

The owners are from Roanoke and opened their Salem location in December 2016.

Daytime Blue Ridge will have a behind-the-scenes look at how the desserts are made on Tuesday at 11 a.m. on WSLS 10.
