Man killed in weekend Halifax County crash identified

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. – UPDATE 

Authorities have identified the man they say died in a Halifax County crash over the weekend. 

Police say Jason Smith, 32, of Java was not wearing a seatbelt when his 2007 Chevy pickup truck went off the side of Beulah Road and overturned. He died in the crash.

Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal single-car crash in Halifax County that occured Saturday at 9:07 p.m.

A pickup truck crashed on Beulah Road near Sawmill Trail.

There is one confirmed fatality. 

This crash remains under investigation.
