Authorities identify two people killed in motorcycle crash in Pittsylvania County

The crash happened north of Chatham on Route 29.

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. – UPDATE

Authorities have identified the two people that died in a Pittsylvania County motorcycle crash Monday.

State police say a 2005 Honda GL 1800 was going north on Route 29 around 3:20 p.m. when a motorcycle ran off the right side of the road and hit the guardrail, ejecting both riders. 

Both the driver, 59-year-old Donald Butcher of Garner, North Carolina and the passenger, 57-year-old Carollee Butcher were wearing their helmets and died at the scene, according to Virginia State Police.  

Authorities say the crash is still under investigation.
